Our clients are looking for a HGV Maintenance Fitter Mechanic at their Bristol site who would be interested in working for a multi customer, market leading Logistics Company on a permanent basis.

The HGV Maintenance Fitter Mechanic responsibilities will include:
  • You will be in a van based role working with a friendly and experienced site team you will carry out all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repairs on a growing fleet of commercial vehicles and trailers.
  • Any 5 from 7 planned start times
  • Overtime opportunities

You will ensure that you achieve:
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the repair and maintenance requirements for commercial vehicles.
  • Test vehicles, observe, recognise and report defects or symptoms of impending problems
  • Service and repair vehicles or components to a high standard
  • Implement approved manufacturer’s modifications
  • Service component parts
  • Travel to other local sites to service and maintain vehicles when required
  • Maintain and repair all equipment used within transport operation
  • Prepare vehicles and trailers for MOT inspections
  • Prepare written reports regarding vehicle condition, accident damage or defects discovered whilst using the Daf Connect electronic system
  • Keep tools and equipment in a clean and working condition
  • Maintain safety standards at all times and use protective equipment provided
  • Flexible in terms of overtime
The successful HGV Fitter Mechanic experience and knowledge required:

Essential Qualifications:
  • GCSE or Equivalent in Maths and English
  • NVQ/C&G in Motor Vehicle Studies (Heavy Goods)
  • Have basic Pc Skills
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • IRTEC qualified and LGV Class 1 driving licence would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given
  • Preferably 3 years’ experience of HGV Repairs
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems & refrigeration systems
  • Stick or Mig welding experience to NVQ level advantageous but not essential
  • Diagnostic equipment experience would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given
  • Able to work alone or as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Dependable and reliable
  • Level headed and works well under pressure
