Role: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Manchester

Salary: GBP40,000-50,000 plus car allowance, private medical, pension

You will be working for a 50-year established main contractor and residential builder.

Operating in a variety of sectors including education and healthcare as well as new build private and social housing, you will enjoy a varied portfolio and consistent pipeline of work secured through frameworks, long-standing client relationships and the company's own developments arm.

With another full order book in 2019, there is now the requirement for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team to commercially manage upcoming residential schemes across Greater Manchester. Experience of new build private or social housing is a prerequisite with the schemes ranging from smaller new builds valued in the low millions up to GBP40million mixed-tenured developments of apartments and townhouses.

Job purpose

Responsible for site commercial activities to ensure the successful financial completion of the project, protecting the exposure of the Company to financial risks, together with adherence to the commercial procedures of the Business.

Responsibilities

Subcontract procurement, where applicable, from initial enquiry to placement of order;

Commercial management of subcontractor accounts from commencement on site to negotiation and agreement of final accounts;

Preparation of monthly applications for payment to the client and ensuring timeous certification and payment;

Preparation of monthly cost value reconciliation reports;

Preparation of monthly cost and value to complete forecasts in conjunction with the Site Manager;

Preparation of final accounts;

Advise on procurement issues;

Assist in cost and risk management;

Provide site management with commercial and contractual support and advice;

Proactive approach to the environment and customer care of all the stakeholders involved in a project;

Promotion of positive image of our client's name to protect and promote the brand name;

Ensure motivation and morale is high and earn respect of team members to gain their commitment and support that ensures their optimum input into the project;

Participate in team development for the benefit of the individuals and the company;

Develop supply chain relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors for the benefit of the project and future contracts;

To be aware of business continuity processes via Line Manager.

Knowledge skills & experience

BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) and/or Chartered/Member of Professional organisation;

Full UK Driving licence;

5 years Quantity Surveying experience for a housebuilder or main contractor;

Experience of new build housing developments
