An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative Property Negotiator to join the Criminal Justice Services team.

At St Mungo’s our vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions.  As a homelessness charity and housing association our clients are at the heart of what we do. We provide a bed and support to more than 2,700 people a night who are either homeless or at risk, and work to end homelessness and rebuild lives.

The Criminal Justice Services team have been providing dedicated services to ex -offenders in custody and the community, since 1998. The service provides housing advice, tenancy support and referrals for housing to offenders in 14 London CRC area prisons, working in conjunction with partner agencies within the London CRC.

The role:

The Property Negotiator will proactively seek out new private rented sector property leads and follow up on any client move on opportunities in a timely manner. It is also vital they ensure properties from landlords meet agreed service standards and are appropriately matched to client needs who are referred for Private Rented Sector (PRS) housing, including consideration of affordability and risk (particularly with MAPPA clients).

*The post will be based in central London, but will involve extensive liaison with colleagues in a number of prisons and with housing providers across London.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who is able to work without direct supervision and is confident in developing partnerships and has the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team, as well as the ability to form effective and professional relationships with external agencies.

A commitment to a strengths based approach of working and upholding the highest standards with regard to safeguarding and inclusion are essential for this role.

You will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues faced by ex-offenders on release and the support needs of people who are homeless/at risk of becoming homeless, how to address these needs and provide positive outcomes.

In return, we offer a range of benefits including a pension scheme, staff discounts scheme and initiatives to help you maintain a healthy work/life balance. We are also committed to providing our staff with a wide range of learning and development opportunities; in support of their personal and professional development.

If you believe that you have what we are looking for, and have an interest in working for a charity which makes a real difference to the lives of people who are homeless, we encourage you to apply.
