Jason Johal is recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join a privately-held clinical-stage biotechnology company based in the UK with sites in the US & Europe, whose vision is to create better lives for people suffering from chronic systemic diseases using the potential of gene therapy as a one-off curative treatment. Their research is focused on the development and commercialisation of gene therapies for debilitating disorders based on a next-generation AAV gene therapy platform. This is a permanent role based in Hertfordshire and offers an excellent salary cGBP60,000 - GBP70,000 and a good benefits package.

The company
Our client is fast progressing simultaneously several programmes towards clinical investigation and is now establishing a new Discovery Laboratory and Manufacturing Facility to ensure the rapid translation of their innovative vectors into clinic benefit. They have a clear focus on AAV-based gene therapy targeting the liver with the aim to provide treatments for diseases with significant unmet needs. Their gene therapy treatment builds upon pioneering work, which has already transformed the lives of patients by providing safe, effective and reliable gene therapy for people with Haemophilia B.

The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled individual with an excellent track record to provide project planning expertise to assigned projects and programs from Lead Candidate Selection through First In Human through to Market to ensure alignment of program strategy with operational delivery. This will include creating and managing project plans, maintain timelines, identifying of critical path's, budget and resource planning and tracking, identifying opportunities to accelerate activities or to increase efficiencies, proactively identifying opportunities, potential risks and mitigations and monitoring progress. You will support the Project Leaders and work-stream leaders in the day to day management of assigned projects, providing status updates, escalating issues and risks and coordinating all functions to ensure the appropriate level of communication and identification of project
inter-dependencies to achieve key development, non-clinical, clinical, regulatory and commercial milestones.

Other responsibilities will include serving as a core member and driving efficient operation of the Project Team including organization of meetings, agendas, preparation of minutes and maintenance of project management documentation such as decision, issue and actions logs. You will ensure that team deliverables and key performance indicators are realistically set and tracked according to governance endorsement and that the project effectively fulfils all business reporting requirements. You will also input to the development of process and procedures to support the Program Management function, communicate project and portfolio status and secure efficiencies and dissemination of best practice across the portfolio.

Your Background
Coming from a scientific background and educated to degree / post-graduate level (or equivalent) you will hold a Project Management qualification or accreditation and will have experience gained in the (bio)pharmaceutical/biotech industry including extensive Project Management experience. We also require significant experience working in cross-functional project teams ideally on a gene therapy, biopharmaceutical or vaccines projects and a strong understanding of the technology and technical challenges. A comprehensive understanding of the drug development process from development through to market is also required as is the ability to travel to work partners in Europe and US as the role requires.
