Summer Accommodation Assistants

Fixed term 31st May to 8th September 2019

£8.45 per hour

The Accommodation team within Facilities are offering an opportunity to work within an energetic team in a varied role, which will provide you with a multitude of skills to draw on in the future. We are seeking to employ 8 temporary roles over the summer holiday period. This is to help in preparation of getting the accommodation ready following student departure, for summer lets and new student arrivals in September.

This is one of the busiest times of the year so candidates will need to be flexible, organised and calm to work in this busy and fast paced environment.

The role will work over the summer period starting 31st May – 8th September 2019. This post will suit applicants who ideally have no prior holiday commitment, the hours vary and you will complete a daily time sheet and you will be paid a month in arrears. There will be a requirement for Saturday working during the period, prior notice will be given for these dates. Accrued holiday entitlement will be paid as part of your salary.

You must be prepared to work from any of our accommodation sites located at the Frenchay or Glenside Campuses.

You will be required to attend on site training and a staff induction on Friday 31st May. This is compulsory.

Interviews will be held between the 15th – 26th April.

Please note this is not a desk role and you will be on your feet all day, some of the accommodation buildings have seven floors. You will work as part of a team and you will need a practical approach to tasks. You will be required amongst other duties to check areas and items such as wc’s, bathrooms, ovens, mattresses and remove rubbish and other student items, some of which will be “dirty”. You will also need the confidence to be able to approach and point out to contractors such as cleaning staff, tasks to be completed again if the standard required is not acceptable.

You will need to have a flexible approach to work and be available to work every day Monday – Saturday. Briefing of daily tasks will be at 9:30 each day. If you are required to start earlier you will be informed the day before.

See below for the full job description and person specification for the role.

If you would like an informal discussion or to view the accommodation to gain an overview of the site, please contact Hannah Curzon on 0117 328 5444 or email: Hannah.Curzon@uwe.ac.uk.

See the attached full job description and person specification for the role.

Closing date: SUNDAY 14TH APRIL AT 11.59PM.
