We’re now looking for a number of Client Support Workers to oversee clients, partners and volunteer elements within our organisation. These roles are part time and will operate on a three year fixed term contractual basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a social care professional with experience of working with the homeless or with vulnerable people to take on a new challenge where they will support the people of Cornwall. 

You will play a vital role in not only ensuring that homeless people are put on the right track, but also to ensure that the dedicated volunteers who are involved in homeless work are also supported. 

This key role will help to ensure that people in Cornwall are not marginalised, but instead are enabled and assisted to get themselves out of difficulties, get educated and trained and set on the right course as a fulfilled and active member of the community. 

Your Role 

As a Client Support Worker, you will be supporting people experiencing homelessness in Cornwall as well as the volunteers who provide help to them. 

You will aim to build confidence in both volunteers and the homeless, empowering both parties to develop their future prospects. Using education, volunteering and training, you will support homeless people to feel once more included in society and enable them to become an active member of their communities. 

Specifically, you will: 

- Support and assist in Life Skills and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy based workshops/groups 
- Promote self-confidence and keep service users motivated 
- Build good working relationships with outside organisations and agencies 
- Liaise and support a regular programme of activities and develop staff, clients and volunteers 
- Ensure that vulnerable adults are effectively protected from abuse or neglect 
- Safeguard the dignity, quality of life and safety of customers/clients 

About You 

To be considered as a Client Support Worker, you will need: 

- Experience of delivering structured support to homeless and vulnerable people 
- Previous experience of delivering training and employment related programmes including life skills 
- Experience of one-to-one and group working and of working positively with people from a variety of backgrounds 
- Experience of working to a quality assurance framework 
- Experience of team working and multi-agency working 
- An understanding of confidentiality issues 
- Experience of working with safeguarding processes and practices 
- A full, valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle 

Other organisations may call this role Support Worker, Social Worker, Homelessness Support Worker, Volunteer Development Worker, Support Programme Worker, or Homelessness Project Worker. 

Please note, these roles are part time and operate on one of two shift patterns which will include evening shifts. You will either work 18.5 hours per week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday or for 20 hours per week on Monday, Friday and Saturday. This will depend on your specialism.
