The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people, with a big vision – to drive change in the food system so that it delivers “food we can trust” - as the country prepares to leave the EU, the scale of this challenge cannot be underestimated. More than 90% of food and feed law in the UK currently comes from Europe and our primary goal is to continue to protect public health and UK consumers’ wider interest in food. 

As the successful role holder, you’ll ensure that all aspects of our delivery plan are successful, and build effective relationships with all stakeholders including industry, local government, associations and trade bodies in Wales. Understanding Welsh consumers is an important aspect of the role, ensuring that our policies, activities and communications enhance the reputation of and trust in the agency. You’ll be responsible for a budget of around £3.6m and lead a team of around 35 people (increasing to more than 40 as workstreams become fully resourced) working on a range of cross-cutting issues spanning policy and delivery.
