Principle Planning Consultant - Minerals and Waste Greater Manchester

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious planning professional looking to build their reputation and portfolio of planning experience in a successful, rapidly growing consultancy.

About the role

We are looking for a self-motivated Principal / Senior Planning Officer to join our Minerals & Waste Planning Team with significant experience in either development management of planning policy and qualified to MRTPI. You will have the necessary skills to be able to manage your own workload and have a good understanding of planning legislation and experience of working in the field of minerals & waste planning.

What you will do

As a Principal / Senior Planning Consultant in our Minerals & Waste team you will:

* Be involved in all areas of planning including preparing planning policy documents, providing expert advice on minerals and waste planning applications, supporting work on community and monitoring waste and minerals sites.

* Support the Group Leader through taking responsibility for managing individual projects and own work load and supporting development of team members.

* Be able to manage individual projects associated with the preparation of minerals and waste planning policy documents, including policy development, evidence gathering and research, report writing, technical waste data analysis, and preparation of Local Aggregate Assessments.

* Be responsible for providing expert advice and technical understanding on minerals & waste planning applications and represent authorities as an expert witness on planning appeals and Examinations in to the soundness of plans.

* Contribute to service improvements to achieve cost efficiency and effectiveness whilst project managing your work to ensure client KPI's are met/exceeded in terms of timeliness and quality of output, adding value wherever possible.

* Have the opportunity to provide support and guidance to peers and more junior staff to distribute knowledge and ensure contemporary planning issues and legislation are cascaded and understood.

Your experience will include:

* Significant, relevant and demonstrable experience in Minerals and Waste Planning with demonstrable experience of working at a senior/principal planning officer level.

* Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

* Proven technical skills and ability in the role with a record of accomplishment for delivering outcomes.

* Professional credibility through proven relevant experience.
