Pembrokeshire is a great place to live and work - With some of the most beautiful coastline and housing that is still relatively affordable, there are few better places to live. However if you are looking for semi-retirement or a place to wind down then this is not the job for you!

We are looking for applicants who are committed and fiercely ambitious for children. If this is you then this is the right time to join Pembrokeshire and to be part of a new team transforming services for children and schools in the county. After a difficult period for some of our services we are embarking on a new era for the county where we focus our activity, energy and attention on driving forward improvements that enable children to reach their potential in schools and to ensure they are safeguarded in all settings. As a member of our Children and Schools directorate, whatever your role, you will be expected to be a significant contributor to the drive for continuous improvement in both of these critical areas.

The post of social worker for children with disabilities sits within our newly formed Integrated Service. This is a service working with children with additional learning needs and disabilities and brings together social care, educational and third sector colleagues. The Service aims to provide a one stop shop for information, signposting, assessment and allocation of resources across a continuum of need.

The Service sits within the wider Inclusion Service and contributes to strategic planning within the Local Authority by using information from direct work to inform policy and practice development. Team members are encouraged to put forward and share ideas for further development in all areas and initiate different styles and models of service delivery. We value new ideas along with the previous experiences that team members may bring in order to provide a modern and progressive service to our children and families.

Safeguarding and Child Protection are key priorities for Pembrokeshire County Council. We aim to support vulnerable children and young people to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. We are committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children and will take action to safeguard their well-being, and acknowledge that children have a right to protection. This is supported in the general ethos of the organisation.

You must possess a relevant qualification in social work and be a registered social worker.
