Freight Supervisor

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a professional to work within a busy and expanding Ro-Ro Shipping terminal that provides stevedoring facilities for the import and export of trailers and containers, new cars (including prestige models) to and from the continent.

The main duties of this position are to be responsible and accountable for the day-to-day running of the Freight Department, ensuring all objectives and KPI's are met. You will assist in the management of the Freight Administration team, monitoring and controlling resources, including shift schedules, time keeping and sickness absence records. You will also be required to work closely with customers, operational teams and senior management whilst helping to drive efficiencies and professionalism with the department. You must be a confident communicator, as you will have regular liaison with Border Force, Customs and Immigration, in relation to the control of cargo leaving the Port.

The successful person will be able to demonstrate experience in the supervision of staff and of working within a busy transport orientated and customer driven organisation. Excellent organisational, communication and IT skills are therefore essential requirements. You will also be required to maintain high standards of Health and Safety practices at all times, particularly Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments within your area. Having a flexible approach in relation to working patterns, and in response to changing priorities is key to this role
