Springer Healthcare is a full service agency and leading publisher of medical educational products for the healthcare community, and forms part of Springer Nature, one of the world's leading global scientific and medical publishers. Springer Healthcare are looking for an Editorial Administrator in the Tattenhall office to work as part of the Adis Journal Publishing team, who are responsible for publishing a portfolio of clinical journals. The successful candidate will be providing crucial administrative support to the publishing team in order to ensure the successful and timely online publication of journals published by Adis Rapid+. There may be opportunities for personal development and for progression into a range of different areas of journal publishing in the future.
Main Duties
Journal Publishing
- Provide administrative support to Adis Rapid+ journal team and help them to manage the publication of journal articles in a timely manner including coordinating projects with internal departments and external authors/clients, and managing article workflow
- Support team in a range of administrative tasks including financial support, contact databases, marketing, and researching clients/opportunities to develop the business further
Editorial Peer Review
- Assist in peer review procedures for articles submitted to the journals and provide support to the Editorial staff, authors and reviewers during the peer review process
- In conjunction with Editorial team ensure each submitted article is sent in a timely manner to the identified referees
- Research and allocate appropriate peer reviewers for manuscripts (in terms of subject area and according to reviewers' agreed availability)
- Work within Adis Rapid+ journal specified deadlines with referees to ensure timely review and comments on all manuscripts, and timely production and online publication of manuscripts
- Provide comprehensive administrative support for the journal team, referees and authors/clients throughout all stages of the process by:
- Communicating information to authors and internal Editors on all milestones in the manuscript submission and review process
- Proactively managing administrative problems on new manuscripts
- Maintain accurate records on manuscript tracking database including logging of all communications
Financial
- Work with Editorial and Operations teams to ensure timely and accurate invoicing of all publication charges
Marketing support
- Assist Editors with any marketing requirements they may have such as email campaigns, researching new client contacts and maintaining the current client contact database.
Person Specification
Essential
- A biomedical, biological degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven to have excellent organisational and time management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Diplomacy along with demonstrated effective negotiation and problem-solving skills
- High level of computer literacy
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects, prioritise effectively and meet strict deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to proactively and calmly identify and address problems quickly
- Adaptable to change and willing to take on new and different responsibilities as they arise
- Proactive, resourceful and a good team player
- A keen interest in scientific publishing and a desire to progress within this field.
