Environmental Planning Officer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Environmental Planning Officer based in a Local Authority in Essex.
Post: Environmental Planning Officer
Rate: GBP19 - GBP20 per hour
We are looking for an Environmental Planning Officer to perform duties associated with compliance and enforcement of legislation in respect of contaminated land and consideration of planning and licensing applications and inspection of premises subject to local authority air pollution permitting.
The main duties of the role are as followings;
* To prioritise and categorise for assessment contaminated land within the Basildon Borough Council area according to the risks posed to human health.
* To implement the Council's contaminated land strategy and assist in its periodic review.
* To assist in the identification of funding streams for contaminated land and the selection and engagement of external consultants for advanced site investigations, site-specific risk assessments and proposals and schemes for remediation, together with the evaluation of their results.
* To supply information required by persons making local land charge searches and environmental information enquiries.
Requirements
* At least 3 years experience in the assessment of contaminated land sites.
* Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate with a variety of audiences and attend court as necessary.
* Scientific Degree or equivalent qualification in a discipline such as geology, chemistry, biology or biochemistry.
* Willing to obtain or already possess the Diploma in Acoustics.
