Mechanical Assembler (Basic mechanical knowledge required)

As a mechanical assembler you will be building state of the art rail vehicles at the manufacturing facility in Derby. Working on various different manufacturing stages, to instructions and in a team environment.

We are looking for candidates that have a practical mind-set, have had some experience in assembly, fitting or tool exposure and have a proactive ‘can-do’ attitude that is essentially looking for a brilliant opportunity in the rail industry.

You do not need to have any formal qualifications or direct work experience, you just need some basic mechanical knowledge, experience of using mechanical hand tools and practical common sense.

Prior to the commencement of your contract you will receive and be required to pass a full training course purposely designed for the duties of this role.  Over a period of 5 days you will learn the fundamentals of how to:

• Torque Tighten

• Earth Bond

• Electrically Verify

• Rivnut

You will have chance to develop and utilise these skills learnt, within the working environment and will eventually result in an NVQ Level 2 qualification in ‘Business Improvement Techniques’ once fully competent.

• Able to work from and interpret written work instruction closely

• Able to carry out physical aspects as well as the more intricate aspects of the role

• Flexible and committed team member that works well as part of team

• Accurate and efficient worker

• Good dexterity

• Able to use different hand tools and basic mechanical knowledge

Shift Pattern: The general shift pattern is mornings and afternoons however these are subject to change in line with production requirements

Hourly pay rate: (PAYE)      

Day Shift £9.72 Mon – Thurs 7:30am - 4pm Fri 7:30am-12:30pm

Morning Shift £10.50 Mon – Thurs 6am - 2pm Fri 6am-12.12pm

Afternoon Shift £11.28 Mon – Thurs 2pm - 10pm Fri 12.12pm-6.24pm

Hourly pay rate: (LTD)      

Day Shift £12.08 Mon – Thurs 7:30am - 4pm Fri 7:30am-12:30pm

Morning Shift £13.10 Mon – Thurs 6am - 2pm Fri 6am-12.12pm

Afternoon Shift £14.12 Mon – Thurs 2pm - 10pm Fri 12.12pm-6.24pm

Standard Hours per week: 37
