Maintaining a thriving parliamentary democracy requires the contribution of a dedicated, politically impartial and diverse workforce who takes pride in supporting the democratic process (circa 2,500 in the House of Commons alone).

The Restoration and Renewal Programme was established to tackle the significant work that needs to be done to preserve the Palace of Westminster and ensure it can continue to serve as home for the UK Parliament in the 21st century. Work has begun to establish a new, two-tier governance model for the programme, like that which has been proven to work well on major projects such as the London 2012 Olympics and Crossrail. The Transition team, within the Restoration and Renewal Programme, is examining the potential routes and options for delivering the programme and taking forward the work to establish a Sponsor Body and Delivery Authority, initially in 'shadow' form and following the passage of legislation as a statutory body and company limited by guarantee respectively.

Does your office management experience include developing and implementing policies and procedures, ideally within a large programme? Would you like the opportunity to play a vital office support role in a unique and historic environment? Then the House of Commons Strategic Estates team has just the job for you. The post holder will be responsible for organising administrative activities to facilitate the smooth running of the Restoration & Renewal (R&R) Programme. They will primarily be responsible for coordinating joiner, mover, leaver, induction and orientation activities, working with the Organisation Development Lead and Programme Business Support Manager.

Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining office equipment and controlling correspondence;
  • Managing the process and documentation of all Purchase Orders;
  • Ensuring relevant records are up to date and that all administration processes are developed, implemented and work effectively.
  • Support the day-to-day internal communications as required.

Further responsibilities will include drafting a programme onboarding plan, organising programme induction and orientation sessions. The post holder will also ensure new starters are provided with the tools, information and resources they need to ensure they are fully engaged and effective in their work.

In addition to an attractive salary, the benefits package include the possibility of flexible working, while annual leave entitlement starts at 30 days per year. There are also subsidised canteens, a gym on-site and a season ticket loan scheme is available.

All applications must be submitted via the House of Commons careers site.
