You You're a capable, experienced chef with a City & Guilds 705 qualification (or the equivalent). You're a caring person who knows the vital role mealtimes play in the lives of frail, older people. Ideally, you've already got some experience catering for older people in a care home or similar setting. You're well-organised and a good team player. You're happy working closely with colleagues to make sure individual dietary needs are met. You want to be a valued member of a friendly, close-knit team - keen to progress in your career as a chef and do your bit to improve the nutrition of older people.
Your role Reporting to the Head Chef, you'll be responsible for preparing appetising meals for our care home residents. So you'll need to be hard-working and reliable. It's also crucial that you understand the challenges of catering for older, vulnerable people - some of whom may have poor appetites. You'll work closely with your care team colleagues to address individual needs. We'll also expect you to support and inspire your assistants in the kitchen, help your Head Chef with menu planning and maintain excellent food hygiene standards. This is a demanding role for a chef. But you'll have lots of support and quality training to make a success of it.
As a Chef at Care UK, you can look forward to:
Our new Sevenoaks care home, which opened in April 2017, could change the way you think about care homes.
Weald Heights takes care home living to a whole new level of luxury. But what truly sets it apart is how everything about our residents care and lifestyle is completely designed around them. We believe in supporting residents to live the life you want, so choice, variety and luxury are built into every aspect of the home.
