Female Senior Support Worker (Communicator Guide) *
Ref: 43162
Hours: 12 hours per week (part time)
Location: Conwy, North Wales
Contract type: Permanent
Salary: £16,249 per annum (pro rata) - £8.33 per hour

About the role

Communicator Guides offer support to people who have developed sight and hearing impairments, often as they get older; you will support the individual to do the things they want to do - not to do things for them. You’ll be there to act as the eyes and ears of the individual – to make sure that communication is clear and that they are able to move around safely.

You may be helping with shopping, dealing with mail, accessing social and leisure activities – to enable people with sensory loss to continue to live as independently as possible and decrease isolation.

*For genuine occupational requirement we are looking to appoint a female only (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9).

About you

We would like to hear from you if you have experience of working with vulnerable people, and ideally have experience of working with people with a sensory impairment.

A willingness to develop your skills in all communication methods is an essential part of this role. You will need to be able to creatively solve problems that may arise using a person-centred approach and ideally have experience of using person-centred planning tools.

You must be enthusiastic, adaptable and friendly with a commitment to ensuring the individual you work with get the best out of their lives.

The ideal candidate will hold, or be willing to work towards, a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

Working as a Support Worker at Sense can be incredibly rewarding; we offer the opportunity to work in a large, diverse and successful charity where people can develop their skills, knowledge and careers in a supportive and flexible environment.
