About the role

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative energy/international development consultant and/or specialist to join their Core Energy Consulting Team. As a vital member of the team you will lead key aspects of and support other Core Energy Team members (and wider Energy colleagues) to win and deliver projects that will help our client fulfil their strategic energy objectives (change ambitions). Specifically you will:

  • Undertake business development (including writing effective, quality proposals and preparing proposal budgets/financial proposals);
  • Manage (including work planning, team co-ordination, technical delivery and financial management aspects) and provide high quality, timely technical inputs to build and maintain a wide-ranging portfolio of energy projects.

You will have opportunities to (and will be encouraged to) further develop your knowledge, skills and expertise regarding energy access, the energy and development sector, and the energy consultancy sector more broadly.

Our client is ambitious to foster growing energy access provision; and to influence energy access planning and policy development for the benefit of poor, vulnerable and marginalised populations.

To deliver this they need high performing consultants who are passionate about winning, managing and delivering high quality and high impact work in the energy and development sectors.

You will work in partnership with the Core Energy Team and wider Energy colleagues (e.g. from their regional offices) to deliver projects and grow skills/knowledge in areas such as: energy and gender; clean cooking or energy finance. You will also work alongside other consulting colleagues to provide energy Technical Assistance as required to charity energy programmes and fundraising efforts.

About you

You have some existing knowledge and/or experience in energy access/international development, but more importantly you have a thirst of widen your knowledge and experience in hands-on role, winning and delivering a wide-ranging project portfolio. Ideally you will have some experience of working in a consultancy/programme management environment. You are a natural collaborator and able to work in a small team environment, turning you hand to varied tasks as required and in order to develop your skills. You are willing and able to work dynamically and flexibly across a wide range of issues and activities, according to shifting opportunities and direction. You have experience of working in Africa, Asia or Latin America.
