We are currently seeking a Nursery Grower (Soft Fruit) based in Gloucestershire.

Our client is an extremely well respected business supplying high quality, year-round berries, cherries and organics to leading retailers. With farms in the UK, South Africa, Portugal and China, they are constantly looking to improve growing systems for the benefit of their customers.

The role would suit someone who has already experience of growing (ideally soft fruit) . You will assist the Propagation Unit Manager with the day to day management of the Nursery site, including operations and growing. This will include people management- husbandry, irrigation, climate, P&D and co-ordination of pesticide spraying. You will need to have previous experience of growing (soft fruit) and have excellent people management skills. An eye for detail is also required together with being able to prioritise and problem solve effectively. Computer literacy is also a must.

Key Responsibilities

* Responsible at all times for the identification and control of pest and disease, through cropwalking and for the reporting of any issues to the Propagation Unit Manager, Agronomist and any other relevant persons. Also responsible for the coordination of spraying, as advised by the Agronomist

* Responsible at all times for following the irrigation feed recipes, for the accurate mixing of feed and taking feed samples, as advised by the Agronomist.

* Responsible at all times for following the irrigation volume blueprint, advised by the Agronomist, and monitoring regularly throughout each day, using own initiative to amend volumes as determined by factors of each day (weather, plant and so on).

* Responsible at all times for following the climate blueprint, advised by the Agronomist, and monitoring humidity and temperature to ensure that the required levels are being met.

* Liaising with the Propagation Unit Manager on husbandry tasks that need to be undertaken.

* Responsible for the monitoring and ordering of spray chemicals, inline with the Agronomist's recommendations.

* Responsible for a 1 in 3 weekend duty rota, duties to include, environmental computer operation, monitoring irrigation and the reporting of any maintenance issues.

* Provide assistance to other departments such as maintenance, production and operations, as required.

* When required, to assist in the supervision of teams on tasks such as husbandry and production.

* To cover duties of the Propagation Unit Manager during absence (holidays/meetings and so on)
