Our client in Ashton-Under-Lyne Greater Manchester is a diverse and vibrant further education college that offers a wide range of course including A level and advanced level vocational study programmes, Apprenticeships and adult courses up to degree Level. They aim to give all students an exceptional experience.

Dovestones is a purpose-built facility specifically catering for student with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties. Students at Dovestones take the Personal Development Progress Programme at Entry Level 1. This is a full time, 3 year programme which aims to develop skills in independence, advocacy, personal and social education and work skills. Students can access all the vocational and social areas of the College, according to individual choice and ability.

The College is now looking to recruit for a part time (31.25 hours) Care Assistant to join them to assist students with their hygiene and physical care requirements.

Assisting and supporting teaching staff and learning support officers in a range of educational activities, both on and off the College premises, you will undertake individual hygiene programmes with students (including toileting, washing, bathing, showering etc) and assist students experiencing physical, sensory and cognitive difficulties.

You must also support the delivery of physiotherapy activities and assist with laundry duties as required.

Candidates for this role will ideally have previous work and/or family experience of young people with learning difficulties/disabilities. Due to the nature of the role you will need to be able to maintain high standards of health care including hygiene and intimate care needs and be capable of working with students who may exhibit challenging behaviour.

Hours of work: 31.25 over 36 weeks of the year (TTO) 0.71 FTE
