Job summary
The post holder has day to day responsibility for a team of Operators, with a focus on resource allocation, safety, training, production quality and output as well as the general oversight of the production environment, working within a rotating shift based structure.
Key responsibilities
* Lead a team of Operators to ensure the production shift runs efficiently across all lines.
* Monitor all aspects of production to ensure the end to end process meets quality and output specification and targets, including:
* filter reconditioning;
* documentation;
* product packaging;
* site and personal health, safety and security;
* site organisation and general cleanliness; and
* waste management.
* Support the development of Operators to make sure all resource is multi-skilled and flexible across all production, box washing, packing, testing, client and vehicle lines.
* Champion and contribute to continuous improvement across Production, using Lean principles to ensure operational excellence and a culture that always strives to be 'best in class'.
* Raise any issues that affect or may affect the team's ability to deliver their targets.
* Make sure the team is fully informed through regular communication, including shift handovers, team updates, company communications.
* Responsible for the site outside normal office hours.
* Responsible for site compliance and end of shift procedures, in particular making sure that all site security, safety and equipment related checks and tasks are completed.
* Operator duties as necessary.
* The post-holder will be a site key holder and will be responsible for opening / securing the premises.
Personal qualities
* Able to motivate, train and lead a team of Operators in a manufacturing / production environment.
* Understanding and practical experience of using Lean manufacturing principles.
* Able to develop and apply procedures and complete related documentation.
* Good team player, showing a flexible and responsible attitude to tasks and responsibilities.
