Position: Dementia Advisor
Location: Bury BL9 OJT
Contract type: Part time, Permanent
Hours: 30 per week
Salary: GBP17,439 actual per annum

About the role:

As a Dementia Adviser you will deliver early support and information for people with dementia. You will offer person-centred support with the aim of empowering people with dementia and their carers to make informed decisions about their care and to help maximise their quality of life. You will identify their needs, maintaining their independence and empower them to take decisions, enabling them to remain in control of their lives.

You will be required to provide relevant information in a variety of formats to meet the service users' needs as well as signposting and/or referring them to appropriate services. You will be part of a team delivering services in Wigan Bolton and Bury. Contact with service users will by telephone and by Home visits. You will be working across the Bury Borough.

You will work with Bury Memory Assessment Service and with GP's, as well as other local support organisations.

You will be speaking to people at all levels across your area so great networking and influencing skills are also essential. You must also have the ability to manage several tasks at once and keep yourself motivated to perform under pressure. Good communication and basic IT skills are needed for this role.
