South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) was the first Ambulance Trust in the country registered as an NHS Foundation Trust (FT) demonstrating the highest levels of service quality, performance and financial management. SWAST delivers high performing emergency and urgent care to the residents and transient population of Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, Devon, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset along with NHS 111 service in Dorset.

Are you looking for a role that is exciting and rewarding, where you can use your skills to communicate in an empathetic manner to help those in a medical emergency?

We need dynamic individuals to join our clinical hub who can work under pressure, sometimes in very stressful and emotional situations.

Our 999 call-takers receive emergency calls, prioritising patients to ensure the most appropriate help is arranged, and where necessary give life-saving instructions. The role is varied, also dealing with requests from hospitals, GPs and other healthcare professionals, as well as enquiries from the general public.

Can you stay calm and professional in a pressurised environment, effectively receiving and recording information accurately? We are a 24/7, 365 days service, and the shift pattern covers these hours.

We need individuals who have a good standard of education to include 3 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English Language), or equivalent qualifications or experience, and good computer literacy. Some call-centre experience would be an advantage, but not essential.

We will provide a full training programme along with ongoing support in the role. There are good progression opportunities within the clinical hub and the wider Trust for ambitious employees.

We will be holding open evenings for shortlisted candidates which will provide you with a great opportunity to find out more about the role. More information will be sent to candidates once shortlisted.

*Unsocial will be paid under Section 2 of NHS Terms and Conditions. Please see attached A4C Handbook for more details.

Open Evening for this role will take place on Wednesday 17 April, you must attend this to be invited to the interview which are being held week commencing 22 April.

Successfully candidates will start a course commencing on the 10 June 2019.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust reserve the right to close this vacancy early, should we receive sufficient applications.

If you are shortlisted for this post, we will normally send you a direct email to the address entered on your application form. We will also send messages through your NHS Jobs account, to keep you updated on your application process. To access emails from us via NHS Jobs, please log into your account, and go to 'My Applications'.

I am sure that you will appreciate the financial pressures on NHS organisations and our desire to prioritise resources into patient care. Whilst we would wish to respond to all correspondence, we are unable to contact candidates who have not been shortlisted for interview. If you do not hear from us within 4 weeks of the closing date, you should assume that you have not been successful on this occasion.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is working towards equal opportunities. Due to under representation within the Trust we would particularly welcome applications from minority ethnic groups, women and those with a disability.
