Legal and General Insurance’s (LGI) HR team are seeking a forward thinking, highly technology minded HR professional to join their team. You will work closely with specified Managing Directors and their leadership teams to influence, develop and execute a people and organisation plan which enables the business to deliver against its business strategy. You will be instrumental in shaping the culture and values that reinforce the Division’s ambition to be a “Tech First” Business with innovation and the Customer at its core.

The candidate will have first-hand experience of supporting the cultural transformation of a business and have experience of working in an advanced Technology, Digital or start-up environment. You will be a mentor for change as the organisation evolves to be increasingly agile in its ways of working, organisational structures and mind-set.

This is an ideal role for a candidate who enjoys pace, is comfortable challenging the status-quo and through collaboration, enjoys influencing the people direction of a business.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • provide proactive support and challenge to the MD’s and leadership teams partnered, on all aspects of people and organisation development;
  • understand the business, commercially, culturally and strategically in order to develop and embed meaningful people plans;
  • contribute to the shaping of the culture and values that underpin LGI’s business ambition and through effective business partnering ensure these are brought to life within the business areas supported;
  • support the continued development of the LGI organisational model providing technical input into re-organisations and acquisitions and ensure the talent, capability and organisation of the division is best set up to deliver its ambitious strategy;
  • build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Act as a sounding-board, coach and confidante on key matters for the identified MD’s and their leadership teams;
  • work with the HR centres of excellence including Resourcing, Talent and Reward to ensure that HR services for the business areas partnered are effectively delivered whilst maintaining an independent organisational-wide perspective;
  • build a framework and metrics for the business to ensure that transformation programmes involving people and organisational design improve the efficiency and effectiveness of individual business units and that the key metrics for the business are monitored effectively with key actions identified and taken;
  • lead the diversity and inclusion agenda for the business areas supported;
  • contribute to the development and implementation of the overall LGI People Plan, through active participation and by leading people programme projects when appropriate/necessary.
  • take a proactive approach to talent management including candidate attraction, on boarding, talent development, capability management and succession planning;
  • effectively drive and support the annual cycle of people activity, including pay review; performance calibration and employee survey; and
  • oversee employee relations within the Business areas supported and work closely with Unite, local reps and managers to champion and demonstrate working in partnership and its benefits.

Required skills, qualifications and experience:

  • CIPD qualified or equivalent;
  • significant experience of working within a technology orientated and digitally progressive environment is essential;
  • significant first-hand experience of driving and supporting culture change within a business;
  • understanding of the cultural levers that will support a business transforming to a fast paced and innovative culture akin to start ups and exponential organisations;
  • a proven track record of successfully partnering with senior level stakeholders to deliver a commercially focused HR strategy;
  • a proven track record of successfully partnering with IT, Change and Technology business areas
  • a credible track record of success in delivering talent, development and OD strategies which have impacted positively on the organisation;
  • significant experience of organisation design techniques and how they can be employed to drive organisational and cultural change;
  • fast-paced and energetic to match the environment, with a clear entrepreneurial spirit;
  • an innovator who has tried and tested new things and taken calculated risks;
  • a pragmatic and flexible style, able to influence and build effective partnerships;
  • commercially astute with the credibility and gravitas to earn respect quickly;
  • absolutely dedicated to the customer journey with a clear commitment to delivering exceptional experiences both internally and externally;
  • a team player who takes their own initiative while working in a collaborative style;
  • able to take a strategic view but also comfortable being hands on and executing the people plan;
  • business “curious” with an outward-facing mind set and a clear interest in what is happening across broader market – particularly digital and technology trends;
  • able to “join the dots” across the business, understanding and driving the priorities and working collaboratively across the function;
  • understanding of TUPE and relevant experience of the people aspects of mergers and acquisition;
  • worked and is comfortable operating in a in a matrix organisation; and
  • relevant experience of partnering and working with trade unions.

Desirable skills, qualifications and experience:

  • a learning and development and/or coaching qualification.
