Our client is a leading provider of qPCR solutions. They have thousands of happy customers based across the globe and have a real ambition to drive their business forward and achieve even more. 

They are now looking for a Head of Production to join them on a 12 month contract.

This is the ideal role for a high calibre production or manufacturing professional with a superb leadership style to take the reins of our client’s production department and deliver amazing results. 

Since day one, our client has been striving to make the world a better place. Back in 2009, they developed the world’s first swine flu detection kit, which is now being used in more than 30 countries across the globe. In 2013, they played a part in uncovering the meat adulteration scandal by measuring horse meat in food. 

Our client has done some fantastic things in their 13 year history, and you’ll be playing a key role is helping deliver excellence and fulfil customer needs. 

Your Role 

As the Head of Production, you will be tasked with leading production activities and the Manufacturing Team as well as overseeing all Departmental activities. 

Focusing on monitoring and measuring performance within the department, you will suggest and drive improvements, take overall control of stock control and inventory and ensure budget targets are achieved. 

Your role will also involve: 

- Ensuring all products are manufactured on time and to budget 
- Overseeing resource planning and co-ordination 
- Driving strategic improvements to processes and services 
- Leading the implementation of new products from R&D to Production 
- Ensuring QMS process are complied with 
- Reporting and monitoring on KPI data 
- Taking part in the purchasing process for raw materials 
- Managing relationships with key suppliers 
- Leading key internal business communication 

About You 

To be considered as the Head of Production, you will need: 

- Experience in a similar production or manufacturing role 
- Previous leadership and people management experience 
- Strong commercial skills including planning, budgeting and setting strategic vision for the department 
- Knowledge of Sage 200 (or similar MPS/MRP system) 
- Production planning experience 

Experience of a qualification in Six Sigma would be beneficial to your application, as would experience with biotechnology or molecular diagnostics.
