We are now looking to recruit a Senior Associate to our Global Valuations Technology team, which sits within the Deals National centre of excellence. This role will enhance our to enhance our software development capabilities in order to enhance our service offering and drive efficiencies in how we deliver to clients across the world. This will be fundamental in supporting our continued growth. We are looking for someone with both a technical and commercial mind-set who can quickly get to the crux of business issues and shape the development of cutting-edge technology to help us deliver "game changing" insights to our clients.
Every assignment is different, but we broadly define our offering under the key headings;
Deal related - Acquisition / disposal valuation advice, bid defence, fairness opinions, valuation of relative joint venture contributions, support for debt or equity raising.
Strategic or operational decision support: strategic option review (including buy versus build), business portfolio analysis, investment appraisal, value impact of structural business changes (e.g. M&A, divestitures, restructuring, IPO), stock price under / over-performance, aligning executive reward to value creation.
Financial reporting - instrument and derivative valuations; purchase price allocations; impairment testing; real estate assurance; private equity, hedge and infrastructure fund valuations.
Dispute related: articles or shareholder agreement valuations; expert determinations;" Honest broker" role, independent expert / expert witness.
Pension valuations: transaction implications, asset backed funding, insufficiently resourced test valuations, valuing employer covenants, section 143 valuations.
Tax purposes: Negotiating with HMRC, management incentive scheme valuations, tax impacts of restructuring, tax implication and optimisation of transactions, considering a restructure.
Your responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:
Creating and upgrading bespoke applications using the .NET framework to integrate and enhance the teams business systems;
Testing applications and implementing fixes/code refactoring as necessary;
Manage, support, and administer the team's SQL database systems;
Assist in the evaluation, selection, installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade, and support of software applications within the firm;
Producing technical documentation; and
Taking part in code reviews and providing input on architectural decisions.
You will need significant experience demonstrating a number of the following skills:
Exceptional analytical and technical aptitude, and enjoy problem solving;
Have an entrepreneurial mind set and self-starter mentality, and be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity to come up with creative solutions to complex problems and develop these ideas into structured deliverable projects;
An ability to work effectively on tasks, both individually and collaboratively;
The ability to manage time, prioritise tasks, self-review your work and produce deliverables of a high quality under tight client deadlines in time pressured environments;
A strong desire to acquire and share technical knowledge with others;
Passion for technology and new tools and applying and developing yourself to new areas (e.g. quickly getting up to speed with tools, analytical approaches and business challenges);
Build collaborative working relationships at all levels, establishing credibility both internally and externally.
Technical skills
Have experience of developing applications using the .NET framework (preferably version 4.6 and onwards) with C# and Visual Studio;
Experience developing ASP.NET MVC web applications using entity framework;
Experience using version control systems, preferably Git;
Agile development;
Have developed software using cloud services such as Azure, Google Cloud and AWS;
Good experience of using SQL Server (2008 and later);
Experience using a wide range of APIs; and
Proven experience in all aspects of the software Development Lifecycle.
The following skills are also desirable:
Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD);
Experience writing and reviewing technical documentation;
Javascript (React/Angular);
Other coding languages such as Python/VB.NET;
Experience working in a corporate deal environment; and
An understanding of basic accounting principles.
