Chemist - Stanley, County Durham
Salary: GBP17,000 - 28,000 pa
The Company
Our client is a leading provider of chemical testing of environmental samples, mainly soils and waters, and is looking for an experienced Chemist to join the team.
This role involves preparation and analysis of samples in our Inorganics section using various different analytical techniques, primarily ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, Skalar, TOC/DOC and various wet chemistry techniques or our Organics section using GC-FID and GC-MS, both with headspace and liquid injection.
You will be responsible for calibration maintenance and troubleshooting of the equipment.
The Role
Identify opportunities for improvement and development
Training of chemists and technicians
Help maintain stock levels and place orders accordingly
Applicants must be educated in a chemistry related discipline with a minimum of 3 years hands-on work place experience.
Experience of working in the environmental and/or contract laboratory sectors, knowledge of the above analytical instrumentation and UKAS accreditation would be a distinct advantage.
The ideal candidate will be:
