We are looking to recruit a keen and enthusiastic Controls Engineer who can work effectively as part of an experienced engineering team. The role will involve electrical control and PLC development alongside the ability to develop specifications and specify control gear for small retro-fit camera systems through to large industrial automation machinery. 

Core Responsibilities:

+ PLC and controls programming of industrial automation systems
+ Specify control systems and associated electrical components for industrial automation systems
+ Maintain, develop and support existing control systems at customer sites within the UK and overseas
+ Work with the Design and Applications Engineering engineers and deliver projects on time
+ Create specifications, process flow diagrams and plan control system programming architecture
+ Help as required for the electrical fitting, wiring of panels and assembly of machine builds
+ Carry out electrical testing procedures on new machine builds
+ Supporting electrical problem-solving during manufacturing build process

Controls Engineer Essential Required Skills:

+ Minimum of 3 years industry experience.
+ Experience of PLC programming, developing control systems and PLC automation software on projects from start to finish
+ Sound understanding of electrical control gear, industrial automation and implementation of communication protocols (EtherNet IP/ Profinet / Profibus / DeviceNet / TCP/IP / CC-Link / Modbus /serial / OPC etc.)
+ Experience and knowledge of electrical control panel layouts
+ A logical approach to problem solving
+ Well organised, ability to work to deadlines and a high attention to detail
+ Ability to prioritise a heavy workload
+ Excellent interpersonal skills – both written and verbal
+ Ability and willingness to work as part of a team
+ Clean and full UK driving licence

Desirable:

+ Experience using Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs and control gear
+ Experience using AutoCAD Electrical 
+ Experience of robotics
+ Educated to degree level preferably in Electrical Engineering or related fields (2.1 or above)
+ Experience of machine vision and vision system technology integration

Pay & Benefits:

+ Starting from £40,000 + £ 3,000 bonus (OTE £43,000 after probation period) based on company performance
+ 20 days per year plus bank holidays, rising to 22 after 3 years in continuous employment and 23 days after 5 years in continuous employment, plus public holidays
+ Company Health Insurance scheme following probation period.
+ Opportunity to follow the IET Chartered Engineering CPD scheme to gain fully Chartered Engineer status.
