Financial Accountant

An interesting new opening has arisen at a government department for an experienced financial accountant to join the finance department and play a key role in supporting the consolidation of accounts as the team starts to prepare for the end of year.

In this role you will partner and collaborate with a range of stakeholders, acting as the face of financial accounting, helping to resolve accounting problems, to ensure the department's annual accounts are free from material errors, and laid pre recess. This will include supporting the preparation of the monthly departmental accounts, including the management of the month end process for ALBs, and carrying out analytical review of the financial results. A key aspect of the role will be to ensure that all the technical aspects of the accounts production process are consistent with Treasury guidance and specifically the requirements of the Financial Reporting Manual (FReM).

You should be a qualified financial accountant with experience of applying technical guidance to practical situations. Strong analytical skills, good Excel skills and an eye for detail will be very helpful. Ideally, you will have previously gained exposure to government budgets and financial reporting. The ability to rapidly form effective working relationships across a range of people in different locations are important as you will need to collaborate across the organisation to deliver on time.
