Security Officer - Portsmouth (Portsdown Technology Park), GBP28k.

Experis are looking for a security officer located in Portsmouth to primarily carry out escorting duties. Portsdown Technology Park is a unique facility with regard to research and development in defence, with associated maritime trials and testing. Sensitive activities are undertaken onsite and as such, it must remain appropriately protected. The site is currently under major redevelopment with the prime contractor in the process of erecting a new four storey facility which will bring an abundance of contractors with it. To adhere to defined security rules, the successful candidates' prime responsibility is to escort these contractors from the main gate to the construction site entrance or site office

A normal working week for covering security duties on site is 06:00-18:00 Monday to Friday. You may be required to cover the odd Saturday should the core security team have limited resources.

Duties:

• Supporting the gate house by ensuring anyone involved in the construction project holds the appropriate badge
• Patrol of construction compound perimeter to ensure its integrity remains intact paying close attention to entry points
• Communicating clearly with prime contractor to escort delivers/work forces to their compound using radios
• Stop and search vehicles and/or operatives in accordance with company policy, should the need arise
• Ensuring visitors sign in/out at the gatehouse
• Liaise with the core security team to address any issues/concerns should they arise
• Ensure all H&S policies are adhered to and follow the correct reporting procedures as per company policy

Required Skills:

• Appropriate standard of fitness to conduct up to 12 hrs on shift and ability to move unaided across the site; including hills, staircases and uneven grounds
• Ability to work with company issued radio (training will be provided).
• Excellent communication skills
• Previous experience not essential
