Job Summary

The Senior Analysts will report directly to the Laboratory Manager; these roles are full time positions.

The Senior Analysts will primarily be involved in the development and validation of new methods of analysis. However, some of the work will be routine analysis of stability samples.

All analysis will be carried out following the principles of GMP.

In addition to analysis, the Senior Analysts will be expected to carry out calibrations, performance qualifications and maintenance of equipment, plus other tasks to ensure the smooth running of the laboratory.

The Senior Analysts will be expected to be familiar with all current Health and Safety requirements and to keep abreast of all new developments in analytical chemistry.

Qualifications and Skills

The candidate must have formal academic training of at least an honours degree standard in chemistry, or a chemistry related subject, and have several years' experience of relevant laboratory work, including analytical method development.

Experience of working in a GMP environment is essential for this role.

Knowledge and extensive hands-on experience in the development and validation of HPLC, GC and IC methods to current ICH guidelines is a prerequisite for these positions.

The candidate should have a sound understanding of the standard procedures used in an analytical laboratory, and have developed a range of specialist skills, including the use of chromatography and other laboratory equipment. This must include familiarisation with the typical software for the operation the instrumentation.

The candidate requires good technical and administrative skills to produce good quality documents and retain accurate records.

The candidate should be familiar with personal computing and be able to utilise spreadsheets, statistical, graphical and word processing packages, and be able to write formal, descriptive reports of their work.
