Solihull Action through Advocacy (SAtA) is a charity which is passionate about inclusion, promotion of choice and independence and protecting the rights of the most vulnerable and excluded. Originally established in 1995, we provide independent advocacy support predominantly (although not exclusively) to people with a learning disability and/or autism.

Our work involves supporting people on a one-to-one basis (including statutory advocacy functions) as well as facilitating group work which focuses on supporting people to build upon their own self-advocacy skills.

The charity currently has 7 Trustees and a staff team of 23 who are led by our Chief Executive and an experienced Senior Management Team with over 40 years of experience between them in the provision of independent advocacy and supporting people with a learning disability.

We have just been successful in renewing our contract with Solihull MBC for the next 3-7 years which provides us with the stability to push forward with the achievement of our wider strategic plan and we are looking to strengthen our Board of Trustees to help us lead that plan.

Specifically, we are looking for people with expertise in:
• Fundraising
• Marketing and Engagement
• Operations and Project Management

Our Trustees can expect a time commitment of approximately 25-30 hours per year made up of:
• 6 Board meetings (held on Tuesday evenings at our offices in Marston Green)
• Annual Board "Away Day" for strategic planning
• Attendance at fundraising and awareness-raising events
