THE OPPORTUNITY:
The main purpose of the job is to make it easier for online users to do business with the British Council through its main website, . This role edits high-traffic sections of the British Council's public website in line with its communications strategy and in collaboration with the Lead Digital Communications Manager and partners in the business units. This entails maintaining and optimising all sections within the Digital Communications team's direct remit, including 'Our organisation', 'Jobs', 'Study and work abroad' and others. The role helps site editors in other teams maintain editorial standards and implement URL and accessibility policies across the site. As the role sits within a small team of editors, the postholder is expected to help with cover on social media and other platforms within the team's remit, especially during busier periods.

Communications is part of the Marketing Centre of Excellence, leading global strategy and plans across internal and change communications, media and PR, crisis communications, events management and digital communications.
MAIN DUTIES:
Carry out content updates on corporate sections of britishcouncil.org
Improve public perceptions of the British Council and reduce reputational and operational risk by:
Oversee improvement of content on British Council's corporate website
Redesign and streamline the content of by:
Equality, inclusion and diversity (EDI)
Make British Council's global corporate website britishcouncil.org more inclusive by:
Support the Digital Communications team in content creation and social media cover
Support the team by:
ABOUT YOU
- Excellent editing skills in English, with strong and consistent attention to detail
- Ability to influence both internal and external colleagues
- Knowledge of SEO and accessibility standards
- Ability to plan and organise: can work to publishing deadlines and project plan
- Ability to analyse and put data into reports with necessary context and insights, using Google Analytics, and Excel or Google Sheets
- Knowledge of photo editing and content management systems
