Team Overview Ofcom looks after communications in the UK. From phones and broadband to TV, radio, post and wireless devices, we regulate services at the heart of people's everyday lives.

This is an exciting time to join Ofcom. We are delivering vital work to help shape the communications services of today and tomorrow. This includes playing our part in helping the UK be a world leader in 5G mobile and driving investment in ultrafast broadband. As the UK's broadcast regulator, we uphold standards on TV and radio. And we make sure communications companies stick to the rules and treat their customers fairly. To support all that work, we carry out world-class research in exciting areas such as technology and consumer behaviour.

We are recruiting a Communications Executive to join our Media and Corporate Relations team. Working as part of the wider Communications team - which also spans internal communications and digital and creative services - the successful applicant will be joining a busy, friendly team at the centre of Ofcom's most important work.

Purpose of the Role We are seeking a Communications Executive to join our media team. We're looking for an enthusiastic, talented communications professional who can help us tell our story externally in creative, engaging ways.

The role involves communicating some of our most innovative work. We regulate airwaves that are set to support the fourth industrial revolution - helping to enable 5G, the 'Internet of Things', smart cities and wireless communications across the UK economy. Raising the profile of our work in this vital area will be an important part of the role.

Central to this will be working with news media. You will need to apply shrewd judgement and initiative to shape and influence opinions in the modern news environment. You will also use digital channels to bring our story to life for the public, parliament, consumer groups and media.

  • Knowledge of the latest digital communications trends and techniques.
  • Analytical mind, able to cut through complex issues to see the wider picture.
  • Clear, calm communicator. Excellent writing skills, and the ability to convert complex policy into plain English.
  • Quick learner, flexible and enthusiastic about working across a range of communications issues.
  • An ability to identify with, and embody, Ofcom's values of excellence, agility, empowerment and collaboration.
Experience

  • Experience of planning and delivering activity for digital communications channels including social media.
