We are Chester Zoo, and for over 80 years we've been a leading conservation and education charity, and an amazing, award-winning visitor attraction.
We're also a team of passionate, talented, enthusiastic and expert people, doing everything we can to keep the zoo going, from feeding the animals, as well as the customers, to discovering new conservation ideas, and giving our 1.9 million visitors an inspirational day out.
Following the successful launch of The Oakfield, after an extensive refurbishment of the original Grade 2 Victorian property, we are looking for additional enthusiastic, detail minded and charismatic bar team members who are willing to learn and willing to work.
Our aim is to have one of the most unique dining and event experiences, by having an amazing gastro pub completely surrounded by the busiest Zoo in the UK!
This is a really exciting opportunity to join a globally recognised organisation as a Bar Team Member, to deliver excellent guest service and experience as part of our Front of House team.
The role:
* Ensure that all Bar duties are performed effectively at all times, such as serving of hot and cold beverages, guest welcoming, unit cleaning, cash handling and stock control
* Provide support to the Food & Beverage Shift Leader on occasion where appropriate, in carrying out any additional duties to ensure the efficient running of the Pub, for example taking charge of the cash up procedure, safe key holding or opening/closing
* Mentor and coach Seasonal and new team members as part of a 'buddy' system to ensure that operational standards are maintained
* Interact and engage with all guests, to meet exceptional guest service standards and exceed guest expectations
* Ensure adequate levels and rotation of products and bar equipment
* Adhere to all policies, operating procedures and safe working practices including food and beverage safety systems, to ensure that exceptional guest service standards are met and guest expectations are exceeded. Ensure legal compliance in relation to serving alcohol to the public
* Maintain a flexible approach and adaptable attitude with a willingness to undertake other duties appropriate with the grade of the post
The successful candidate will have:
* NVQ qualification in guest care preferred
* Excellent guest service skills ideally gained within a leading British Gastro Pub
* Previous bar experience, including knowledge of the legal requirements associated with serving of alcohol to the public
* Knowledge of current drink trends
* Excellent communication skills and team work
* Self-motivation and be proactive
* High personal and work standards
* Good organisational capability
* Basic food hygiene certificate
* Numerate and literate to undertake duties
* Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel
* Cleaning and hygiene experience
