You may already be working in children's nursing or perhaps you're in an adult care or learning disability setting but looking for a new challenge. You might even be retiring from the NHS but still want to make the most of your skills. Whatever your story to date, if you're keen to take on a full or part-time role that will enable you to use your clinical skills and help inform and shape a developing service, make the move to Alexander Devine.

A small but growing state-of-the-art children's hospice based in Maidenhead, we're the only hospice of our kind in Berkshire, and currently support over 110 families. As well as providing day care for play and respite, we offer community outreach support and are working towards overnight stays. Ours is a tight-knit team where every voice is heard and everyone plays their part in ensuring the children we see have as normal a life as possible. Our vision? To provide a comfortable home from home environment for each and every child. But, we need your help.

We're not looking for just any nurse. As well as providing holistic care and support to children with life threatening and life limiting conditions, you'll be able to do other amazing things that you won't find in many nursing roles. For example, you'll get involved with the child and their extended family from day one. And, as part of a team that really does go above and beyond for every child, you'll help children and their families create memories that will last forever. For example, if a child's not likely to see Christmas, our team will organise an early Christmas for them, complete with a tree and opening gifts around the fire with Santa. We often arrange Pamper Days for Mums and Dads too - something special they may not have the time to do for themselves. Anything it takes in fact, to ensure that the time each child spends here is as happy as possible for them and their family.

If you have excellent clinical nursing skills, lots of initiative and a willingness to tackle any problem that gets thrown your way, we think you'll love it. Flexibility is, of course important. There are various roles on offer, each involving a mixture of in-hospice and community outreach working. We're trying to work towards a 24 hours service too, so a willingness to work shifts is as essential as your caring and compassionate nature.
