Financial Accountant

£35,000 - £40,000 + Pension + Bonus

The primary responsibility for this role is leading the internal and external reporting for this division and our client's wider Group in order to produce MI to decision makers to inform Group and product strategy and will lead the statutory reporting of the Group and be the key audit contact. The financial accountant will also have exposure to a growing and developing business through assisting with wider group projects both within finance and supporting the wider business and supporting relevant M+A activity.

The individual will be responsible for one direct report, and will work with the wider finance team as part of their day to day role.
 
Responsibilities:

• Leading month end reporting to the business, including developing the P&L reporting to ensure it reflects commercial needs, providing support to product owners through the provision and interpretation of MI.
• Responsible for statutory reporting for our client and South African businesses & Group consolidation.
• Responsible for leading the audit of their consolidation.
• Responsible for overseeing and supporting local finance execs through completion and audit of 3 overseas entities.
• Driving change and efficiency, in particular in relation to the month end procedures, and day to day processes such as expenses, banking and cash-flow forecasting.
• To act as the key point of contact in the Finance team for knowledge and understanding of the key Finance systems and to be able to identify areas of improvement and manage system development.
• To support the creation of Quarterly VAT returns and Corporation tax filings.
• Developing & reinforcing financial controls, both system and policy/procedure driven.
• Development of accounting policies and liaising with senior stakeholders in order to ensure that they are both technically and commercially sound.
• Assisting in quarterly reforecasting through partnering local departments
• Acting as a business partner to the wider business to provide financial support to internal projects.
• Line management responsibility for 1 individual.

Knowledge:

• A good knowledge and understanding of accounting principles is essential, qualified accountant, ACCA or equivalent
• Experience of leading both internal and external reporting functions
• Strong excel skills which include the ability to sort and analyse large data sets through the use of pivot tables and key excel functions (including vlookups, sumifs, pivot tables)
• Good knowledge of accounting systems (Microsoft GP is preferable but not essential)
• Ability to identify and solve problems and communicate the solutions and associated benefits back to the wider business and finance team.
