Our client, based in Bedfordshire, is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Surveyor on a temporary contract for three months.

The position is due to start immediately on a full time basis. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience for this position.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience in a similar role and access to a vehicle essential.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

* Investigating appropriate repair requests reported by customers via any channel that require a technical inspection and order appropriate repairs, prioritising work and dealing with all requests within prescribed timescales

* If required, take appropriate action following emergency repairs dealt with as part of the out of hours Emergency Repairs Service

* Reporting to the appropriate manager, all aspects found during a technical inspection that cannot be dealt with as normal jobbing work due to cost

* Liaising effectively with contractors and consultants and colleagues, as necessary

* Undertaking Property MoT's/mutual exchange/transfer/pre-termination inspections

* Liaising effectively with tenants, leaseholders and adjoining neighbours/owners as necessary, and when necessary in conjunction with appropriate Housing Management staff

* Effectively diagnosing the cause of defects / remedial works necessary and write clear specifications / schedules of work

* Ensuring effective liaison with other Authorities, i.e. Police, Councils, water authorities, utility suppliers, Parish Councils, etc.

* Providing technical advice on repairs and maintenance issues to colleagues, when requested

* Assisting with the management of empty properties by ensuring that all vacant properties meet the Group's Void Standard prior to being occupied. This will include the following actions:

- Undertaking a pre-inspection within 5 working days of notice being received

- Notifying the tenant that failure to do so will result in them being charged

- Ensuring system protocols are followed and liaise with colleagues on progress and availability for letting
