Maternity Leave cover 12-14 month contract

9 St John Street Chambers is seeking to recruit a temporary member of staff to cover a period of maternity leave.

Reporting directly to the Head of Chambers and managing 12 members of staff and their various departments, in summary, the role will manage all operational aspects of the Chambers, with the exception of clerking, including but not limited to:

Financial Management and Reporting: To include management accounts, payment of invoices, management of supplier contracts, general bookkeeping, monthly invoicing, monthly analysis of income against budgets, bank reconciliations, direct debit collections, VAT management, relationships with the bank.

Human Resources: To include supervision of payroll, contracts of employment, pension administration, absence and holiday management, health insurance, appraisals and staff 121’s, staff and member policies to ensure legal compliance.

Professional: To include renewal and management of professional indemnity insurance, practising certificates, CPD records, Data protection registers, management of pupillage and tenancy, ensuring compliance with professional bodies.

Information Technology: To include management of case management system issues, policies, staff training, GDPR and data protection compliance, management of online library resources.

Facilities/Operations: To include overall office/premises management including alarm maintenance, access management, management of conference facilities and telecoms.

*Suitable experience at a senior level, preferably in legal administration, management and organisation as detailed above

*A mature and meticulous nature with an ability to deal with conflicting priorities and capable of multitasking whilst under pressure

*A high standard of inter-personal skills with ability to communicate highly effectively both in person and electronically

*Excellent IT skills with experience of both case management systems and Sage/banking software
