An exciting opportunity has arisen for a successful and motivated Financial Controller to work within our busy car dealership in Clevedon where we operate Ford and Mazda franchises with a combined turnover in excess of £15 million per annum.

This is a crucial role within the Dealership environment and would suit someone with excellent accounting and IT skills.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Management team and be responsible for the smooth day-to-day management of the company's accounting and administration functions, together with the proactive development of the company's systems and controls.

You will also work closely with our Vehicle Sales, Service, Parts, and Bodyshop departments to create a seamless accounting process and you will be in charge of a small but well established team.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Weekly cashflow and bank reconciliation, production of journals, balance sheet reconciliation, maintaining the fixed asset register.
  • Responsibility for the sales & purchase ledgers and assisting with the vehicle sales administration process for new and used car sales.
  • Managing a team of two accounts assistants, providing support guidance and assistance.
  • Preparation of the year end audit file, completion of statutory accounts.
  • Preparation of the VAT returns.
  • Control of company cashflows and cashflow forecasting.
  • Processing the monthly payroll for 35 employees, PAYE & NIC and pension payments.
  • Quarterly stock taking of vehicle and parts stocks.

We are looking for someone with a professional approach to work, with a high level of commitment and the ability to operate under varied pressures as well as effectively meet prescribed deadlines and timings.

Experience of Kerridge accounting systems would be beneficial but not essential. A professional accountancy qualification is preferred but not essential if the candidate has the necessary experience.

The ideal candidate will have strong accounting skills, commercial acumen and excellent IT skills.
