Management Accountant (PART TIME)

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a High Net Worth family business with operations across Property, Agriculture and Business Services. As part of continuing growth in their UK operations, they are now seeking a part-time Management Accountant to join their existing team of three Finance staff. Reporting to the Finance Director and having responsibility for monthly, quarterly and annual statutory accounts; other key parts of the role include:

• Providing accurate and timely accounting services to third parties including meetings with the external accountants
• Liaising with team members in Finance to take account of varying workloads over the reporting cycle to ensure work is completed by due dates
• Ensuring the correct treatment of all Finance transactions and compliance with HMRC requirements and UK Accounting Standards
• Providing accurate and meaningful Management Information to the Executive Team
• Maintaining a system of internal controls for the finance function including sales and purchase ledger, banking/cash and payroll
• Liaising with other professionals including lawyers, accountants and land agents supplying information requested by them and referring relevant matters to them.
• Preparing detailed annual cashflow budgets and profit budgets together with summary reports for review by the Senior Management.
• Entering the completed budgets and subsequent updates on the internal accounting system 'Landmark'
• Preparing financial reports as required including quarterly cashflow reports, schedule of professional fees, gross margin accounts per business and other ad-hoc reports
• Reviewing debtors, creditors and cash/loan balances with budget holders on a monthly basis, reviewing postings to the nominal ledger for accuracy and consistency.
• Preparing quarterly VAT returns including partial exemption adjustments.
• Drafting the annual statutory accounts for review and completion by the external accountants.
• Ensuring bank covenants for loans are met and reports supplied by due dates.
• Managing the company borrowings and cash balances to achieve the lowest interest cost for the existing loans.

This is a great opportunity for a driven Qualified, Part-Qualified or QBE Accountant who is passionate about financial accounting, process improvement, streamlining processes and end-to-end management of the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting cycles. With in-depth traditional Finance experience complemented by strong financial reporting skills, experience working in an SME with multiple businesses would be a distinct advantage for this part-time role. You should be able to articulate objectives and expectations to non-finance staff in an easy to understand manner, and help develop team competencies to meet changing internal Finance demands. Strong IT skills including Excel, Sage/Quickbooks or similar would be a distinct advantage and the business will happily consider someone wanting to do 2 or 3 days per week (approx. 17-26 hours)

On offer for this role is a salary up to GBP35,000 pro-rata + benefits including 25 days holiday, 3% company pension & healthcare schemes (all to be pro-rata).
