Are you a data protection specialist looking to take on an exciting new role within a well-established but ambitious charity?
About Samaritans
At Samaritans, our vision is that fewer people die by suicide. We believe it is preventable and that by working together we can give people the support they need before they reach crisis point. We are one of the most trusted charities in the UK and ROI, and we answer a call for help every six seconds. We have around 175 staff and more than 20,000 volunteers based across 201 branches giving emotional support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We don't just hear you, we listen.
About The role/person
Samaritans is looking for an experienced data protection practitioner to join our Legal & Governance team. Working with teams from across the organisation, you will be responsible for the continued implementation of the Data Protection Compliance Project, as well as advising on additional actions required to ensure a framework of compliance across the organisation. This is a varied, hands-on role and you will be the first point of contact for data protection support and queries from managers, staff and volunteers.
In addition to your day to day responsibilities, you will contribute to the review of policies and procedures and the development of staff and volunteers' understanding of the data protection principles.
Solid experience of dealing with data protection regulators and complex data protection issues is essential, as is the ability to establish effective relationships with key stakeholders.
If you are a data protection practitioner with a post-graduate qualification, or qualified by relevant experience, we would like to hear from you.
Our location
Our Central Office is located in a converted mill in Ewell, Surrey which is just over 30-minutes by train from Waterloo and 15 minutes from Wimbledon.
As an employer we offer a good range of benefits, including 25 days' holiday, free car parking, Health Cash Plan, pension and interest-free season ticket loans.
