About the Role & Business Unit

Our Programme Management & Communication Business Unit help public, private and civil society organisations deliver and communicate their grants programmes across the UK. We have a long standing reputation for the management of multi-million pound grants programmes for government departments and third sector bodies.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Consultant to support senior management colleagues involved in Business Development (BD) activities. You will work with Ecorys colleagues, partner organisations, subcontractors and associates to develop Ecorys' portfolio of UK work through:

  • Contributing to work-winning by searching for and identifying new opportunities, and coordinating the preparation of tenders
  • Providing support to the delivery of Ecorys' communications/digital and programme management contracts

The role is full time and based in our Birmingham office.

Role Responsibilities

Primarily, to contribute to work-winning by searching for and identifying new opportunities and coordinating preparation of tenders:

  • Understand the client's technical and administrative requirements for a range of tender opportunities, proposals,
  • Expressions of Interest and Pre-Qualification Questionnaires
  • Search for new opportunities for communications, digital and programme management contracts for UK clients, particularly those with policy and research or evaluation elements
  • Be responsible for keeping trackers with details of new opportunities up-to-date and making these trackers ready for business development meetings
  • Contribute to building partnerships with appropriate organisations (such as universities, other consultancies etc) and identify experts to ensure we have fully-rounded bids
  • Improve and tailor experts' CVs and ensure that track records, references and case studies remain up-to-date
  • Lead on the preparation and submission of EoIs and PQQs
  • Lead on the preparation of small to middle scale proposals for new tenders including the collation of required legal, financial and administrative documentation for proposals
  • Undertake direct client contact on administrative queries
  • Coordinate the submission of proposals including electronic submissions or liaison with printroom and couriers

Providing support to the delivery of Ecorys' communication, digital and programme management services in the UK:

  • Implement a range of technical tasks including drafting correspondence, preparing and issuing invoices, keeping track of and claiming reimbursable expenditure and experts' expenses (including timesheets) on Ecorys UK contracts
  • Oversee audits of those contracts where required and prepare the financial elements of the reporting
  • Take part in the organisation and delivery of project activities and events where required
  • Liaise with other in-house teams as well as partners, external experts and providers

Role Requirements

Essential:

  • Graduate level or equivalent Hands-on experience in dealing with tenders/bids/proposals led by the UK Government and other UK funders/organisations/charities/NGOs
  • Excellent organisational and coordination skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to lead on a range of technical and administrative tasks, working on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Computer literacy - excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Travel through UK is expected, and occasional work outside normal office hours, including nights away from home

Desirable:

  • Experience of building partnerships and identifying expertise, with organisations in the UK
  • Understanding of national, regional and sub-regional policy-makers and clients in the UK
