Residential Support Worker

£23,545 – £31,209

Full time, permanent

Liverpool, L12

At Barnardo’s, we believe in children. Our purpose is to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children and our vision is to realise Thomas Barnardo’s dream of a world where no child is turned away from the help that they need.

It’s a vision that drives the work of our new Transition, Preparation and Moving on Service, aimed at delivering transformational change for looked after young people with complex needs.

Working as part of our residential team to provide a nurturing environment in two small yet high quality homes, you’ll help to create a nurturing environment and deliver specialist therapeutic interventions.

That means working in partnership with children, young people and their families, and collaboratively with other service providers, and taking responsibility for the more complex cases. Your expertise and experience will also help to shape future service development and working flexibly and innovatively to incorporate new and best practice.

Along with experience of enabling young people with challenging behaviour to manage themselves effectively, you’ll ideally also have lived experience of the care system or of CSE, Youth Offending, Youth Work, Mental Health and Wellbeing or Disability. More importantly however is at least a Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young Peoples’ Workforce – Social Care Pathway, and an understanding of the factors and issues facing vulnerable children, young people and families.

You’ll also have knowledge of development, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and relevant legislation. An effective listener and communicator, you’ll also be a confident team player with a positive approach to resolving problems and implementing innovative solutions.
