We are pleased to have the opportunity to support this Sutton in Ashfield based business as they look to recruit a Purchasing Manager. This is a new role for the business and can offer the right candidate a role where they can really add value and make it their own.

To be considered you will ideally be CIPS qualified with a number of years experience operating at a similar level.

Managing a team of buyers, the role will report into an Operations Director. The successful person will have complete autonomy for the day to day operational and strategic elements of the role.

The overall aim of the role is to maximise stock whilst reducing inventory levels and cost. There will also be a lot of work around developing vendor partnerships to ensure best pricing.

Duties are likely to include:

Support the selection and on-boarding of new vendors (UK and International)
Determining vendor metrics and manage in line with business objectives
Delivering real terms cost reductions
Delivering measurable working capital improvements through addressing payment terms and optimising inventory levels
Working with Product Management to ensure product specifications are fit for purpose and not over engineered
Ensuring that demand planning is accurate
Identifying potential supply issues and escalating as necessary
Continuously challenging vendors to keep costs as low as possible; improving standards of product; improving delivery process and times; reducing waste
Managing and developing the team to ensure effective service delivery and continuous improvement
Adopting a 'hands-on' approach with an ability to get things done at an operational level while remaining accountable for the performance of the function

Who should apply for this role?

The ideal person for this role will be an experienced Purchasing professional who is CIPS qualified and who is a natural leader of people. You will have a flair for negotiating and ensuring the most effective processes and procedures are in place. You will enjoy leading a team, developing and mentoring them to ensure they enjoy the work they do and are the best at they can be.

Experience of managing national and international vendors, particularly those based in the Far East, would be highly advantageous. You'll be creative with the ability to think outside of the box and comfortable challenging others (and being challenged in return) when needed.

The package includes a really good pension, 25 days holiday (+ stats) and a 35.5 hour working week.
