Democratic and Electoral Services Officer

Position: Democratic Services Officer
Location: Milton Park, Oxfordshire (Commutable from Didcot, Abingdon, Oxford, Reading, Farringdon, Bicester and surrounding areas)
Job type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: 25 hours a week
Salary: GBP34,155 to GBP38,932 pro rata (with a pay award of 2.7 % this April)
Benefits: include a minimum of 24 days' annual leave, time off between Christmas and the New Year, a pension scheme, free parking and flexible working hours.
Closing date: by noon on 15 February 2019.
Interview date: week commencing: Monday 25 February 2019
About the role:
Due to the departure of the previous postholder we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our small team delivering democratic services at South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils.
The successful candidate will work across all aspects of the democratic process at two councils, with specific responsibility for the management of meetings (preparation of agendas, reports and minutes), providing sound advice and guidance to councillors and officers on constitutional matters and the ethical framework applying to councillors. There is also the opportunity to get involved in the delivery of elections.
The team is looking to develop and improve support to the councils to ensure the efficient management of the decision-making processes in accordance with statutory and best practice requirements.

We are looking for a confident and motivated person to join us who is capable of balancing many priorities, able to communicate to a high standard, both verbally and in writing, and who has excellent organisational and IT skills.
