Business Development Assistant

Ipswich Suffolk

37 hours per week 52 weeks a year

This role will be an ambassador for the Schools' Choice brand; working effectively with the service leads. You will support the Business Development lead to ensure we successfully generate new business through the development of strong working relationships with new and existing clients. The post will ensure customer databases are fully updated and accurate.


Develop relationships with new and existing clients to provide quotes, cross sell, arrange meetings and update databases accordingly.

Development of good customer relationship.

Advising the customer on products which meet their needs.

Creating a positive and professional image of Schools' Choice in the promotion of the full product range.

Achieving an agreed amount of sales each month.

Support the lead Business Development consultant in all administration and system related areas including: Updating and processing of items on the online store.

Creation of bespoke quotation for customers.

Ensuring the customer relationship management system is accurate and up to date.

Checking the various bid websites daily and identifying opportunities.

Manage all sales processes through the Schools' choice website.

Customer queries on products.

Customer issues accessing the webstore.

Raising of queries with suppliers where customer looking for something specific.

Administration of the CRM Database.

Collect and monitor competitor and customer intelligence.

Reporting on pipeline and leads.

Reporting on new and lost business.

Reporting on customer feedback process.

Supporting the annual renewals process within Schools' Choice.

Working with service leads to ensure timetable is adhered to.

Collect, review and input the data needed for price generation.

Monitoring responses.

Highlighting and resolving issues in a timely manner.

Measures of Success:

Increase in number of customer.

Increase in sales achieved.

Databases updated in a timely and accurate manner.

Financial data accurately input.

What you need to know:

Qualifications and Professional memberships

Working towards professional qualification e.g. ISMM, CIM, or relevant experience.

High levels of literacy & numeracy skills required.

Specialist knowledge skills and experience

Strong administrative skills.

Experience of using a customer relationship management system.

Good understanding of education environment and the issues effecting it.

Able to handle enquiries efficiently, diplomatically, and accurately.

Accurate and efficient input of data.

Competent in using various systems.

In-depth knowledge of relevant policies, practices & procedures relevant to area of work.
