The British Psychological Society is a registered charity and is responsible for the development, promotion and application of psychology for the public good. Through our Royal Charter we are charged with overseeing psychology and psychologists around the UK, and our governance is overseen by a number of democratically-elected boards and committees.

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Legal Services and Governance Advisor.

This role supports the work of the CEO office and of the Governance Manager to whom the post holder reports.  They will be required to provide support to the Board of Trustees and senior management team with sound legal and corporate advice to ensure all business decisions, operations and processes including employee relations and contracts management are in compliance with excellent legal and governance practice and mitigate risk where appropriate for the Society.

The successful candidate will have:

·         A law degree or equivalent qualification

·         Be a qualified solicitor

·         A good understanding of charity, business and employment law and charity and corporate governance

·         Excellent written communication skills including minute writing and proof reading

·         Experience of working in a charity (desirable)

·         Experience of working in a membership organisation (desirable)
