The team is made up of Chartered Engineers and Environmental Consultants who boast a wealth of experience having worked in the field and office-based consultancy for many years. Although the primary focus of the business is supporting Private Developers, they also regularly support Councils and Government, so the team always have exciting projects to work on.

About the Role

Due to the continued success and growth of the company they have an exciting opportunity to join their existing team as a Drainage Engineer / Civil Engineer.

You will become a key part of the existing consulting team. As the successful candidate, you will have an enthusiasm to develop your career in the water/environment sector. You will be confident liaising with clients and building relationships with their current client base. You will need to provide your knowledge and expertise to support the client to make informed decisions on how best to mitigate flood related constraints.

You will be well versed in being able to understand what the flood data demonstrates and how this can be applied to support decisions.

The work is fast-paced and they support ambitious individuals in progressing their career whilst providing exposure to all aspects of the business.

Their current team undertake surface water drainage strategies, for outline planning, full planning and design. Where required support overland flow models, river modelling, river floodplain and direct rainfall modelling, hydrological analyses, supporting engineering design and CAD work where required as well as writing reports.  

They would expect you to be able to fulfil the core of the work detailed above.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role you will hold a Minimum BEng, environmental or civil engineering and have a good technical background with proven industry experience.

  • Experience in supporting clients from initial conception stage through to finished design drawings
  • Previous experience of reviewing junior staff work and supporting their development
  • Working on FRA / Surface Water Drainage for a minimum of 3 years
  • Knowledge of UK planning policy (NPPF / TAN 15 / SPP / PPS15)
  • Knowledge of the planning process and interaction with the LPA, LLFAs.
  • GIS knowledge
  • Bid Preparation / commercial acumen
  • Essential – ability to use MicroDrainage and AutoCAD.
  • Client Liaison
  • Working toward CIWEM / ICE or ambition to achieve such accreditation. (AEA support those working toward such accreditation, dependent on ability and time served).

You will need to have experience of using some of the software/programs below:

Hydraulic modelling skills with exposure or ability to use MicroDrainage and one more of the following packages:

-WinDES,ISIS, ISIS 2D, HEC-RAS, TuFLOW, Flood Modeller, INFOWORKS RS/CS/ICM, MIKE11/21,
