Leading edge Technology Company specialising in the design, development and manufacture of custom optoelectronic solutions across a range of highly regulated markets. They are a world leader in the manufacture of WDM's and encircled flux compliant products, and now urgently seek a Senior Development Engineer to join their expanding engineering team.

This important role will lead development projects for customers and be instrumental in developing future technologies.

The ideal Development Engineer will have 3 to 5 years post graduate industrial experience with a Bachelor Degree in Physics, Electronics Engineering, Optics or related field, could be Development Engineer, Measurement and Applications Engineer, Optical Engineer etc

Some Duties include

• Lead the development of laser, detector and fibre based optoelectronic devices from initial requirements through to manufacture
• Deliver technically complex projects on time and to budget and in line with company processes
• Sourcing appropriate devices for each application
• Develop and build relationships with technical and business experts internally and within the photonics industry
• Work closely with customers to advise, develop proposals and deliver products against their requirements

Qualifications and Experience Needed

• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Physics, Electronics Engineering, Optics or related field
• Good experience of photonic/optoelectronic component design, development, qualification, manufacturing and characterisation (optical simulation: Zemax)
• Experience/knowledge of specific markets e.g. fibreoptic telecoms and/or test and measurement applications and products
• Good understanding/experience of fibre optic alignment techniques
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings
• Experience or knowledge of Labview
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to engage with customers on a deeply technical level
• Good knowledge and experience of current photonic packaging processes and their capabilities

Some UK and international travel will be involved and you will need a valid British or EU passport will provide sponsorship for committed candidates.
