Permanent, Mon – Fri 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (flexible)

We offer a great opportunity for a suitably qualified Junior Software Developer, or an experienced Software Developer, to join the friendly development team of an exciting growing company specialising in the design of cloud and mobile software solutions for emergency services. Ideally you will be solution focused, probably with a scientific or research and development background able to work on projects involving artificial intelligence, mathematical algorithms and various programming languages. You may come from a software development background or indeed from a scientific mathematical background – perhaps with a degree in maths or computer science. Most of all you will be a software developer with a great passion for investigating new technologies, for example developing new algorithms to model human behaviour or risks. If you have a background within the gaming industry your skills may be transferable to real life projects. This is a truly exciting role for someone with a keen interest in innovation who enjoys working for a stable organisation with an informal management approach. Key Software Developer responsibilities:

 

  • Develop cloud and mobile software solutions for emergency services
  • Work on projects involving artificial intelligence, mathematical algorithms in various programming languages
  • Investigate new technologies in line with client’s expectations
  • Collaborate and work with police forces, emergency services and global clients to develop new response models and capabilities
  • Work on subjects related to data mining, predictive policing, risk and resource management and intelligence
  • To work with your team, researchers and clients in a collaborative environment to contribute to the creation of new models of policing, fulfilling unique client requirements

 

Personal specification Software Developer:

 

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) - Maths or Computer Science
  • Knowledge of programming in Java J2EE/J2SE, C#, HTML5/CSS on web, desktop and mobile platforms
  • Interest in Research and Development, ideally with a scientific or gaming background
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to discuss and present clients’ expectations to investigate and develop new technologies
  • Good team player
  • Capable of prioritising work load in line with customer demand
